2004 USAPL Women's Nationals

Omaha, Nebraska - Jan. 31-Feb. 1

I finally had a great meet, making 9 out of 10 attempts and breaking a 20 year-old IPF deadlift World Record along the way.  I had a little trouble in the squats, very narrow stance for some reason.  Missing my 3rd squat, I was wrapped way too long as they loaders tried to figure out the weights for the gal ahead of me.  I was a little wasted and my legs were numb by the time I got under the bar and missed a 507 squat.  Bench flew, finally breaking the 300 barrier, and by the time I was to deads, I was on a roll.  My opener  (462) came up so fast and easy it felt like I just had a plate on the bar. The second attempt 502.5 broke the American Record, third was 529 to secure a 600kg total, that has been my goal for a long time.  I can't tell you how excited I was to complete the 3rd deadlift just because I would actually be able to try a 4th attempt.  540 was set and came off the floor easier than my 3rd attempt. I also succeeding in being the 1st USA Powerlifting women to break the 600 Wilks formula, ending with 615 and receiving Best Lifter.

I would like to give a special thanks first to Larry Maile for being the best coach around.   Not only the excellent training, but also for the shot of confidence that he gives his lifters and projecting the numbers I can hit years in advance!  To my brother Ivan for his dedication to helping me along the way, best handler anyone could ask for.  Sandra Perron for running my numbers again this year, Greg Page for never letting me down with the pizza delivery (and for the moral support along the way), Pete for the best gear around, Titan gear  Rocks! New Girl (aka Dez) for being a great workout partner, the sky is the limit!  To all the Alaska Iron Maidens, you gals are a fun bunch to be around.  Also my sponsors for helping my way to Nationals, Marcus and Ramona Lawson of  Global CompuSearch , BodyBuilding.com and Titan Support Systems.  I know I am forgetting to thank a lot, but want to say thanks to Harriet, Jessica, Disa and Lea for being a source of great encouragement and great friends.

One IPF World Record down, three more to go!
